The Process
Do you have a case that would benefit from my services? Visit phillyvetdentist.com to fill out a consultation form. Once reviewed, I will phone you to discuss scheduling and fees.
Your team must provide a high-speed dental unit, dental radiography, anesthesia equipment, and a designated anesthesia nurse. I will provide the rest.
I will always call the client with updates and provide a detailed surgery report, dental chart, discharge instructions and medication recommendations.
I am available via phone or email for additional follow-up, especially for patients with pending histopathology samples or ongoing medication needs (ex., cats with chronic gingivostomatitis)
To ensure the safety of our patients, the following tests and guidelines are recommended:
- A complete blood count (CBC) and serum chemistry are required for all patients within 2 months of any anesthetic procedure.
- Cats > 12 years of age should also have a urinalysis and total thyroid level (T4) performed.
- If the patient has known renal disease, electrolytes/BUN/Creatinine should be performed within 24 hours of anesthesia.
- All tumor patients should have three-view chest radiographs with a radiologist’s review.
- If a known cardiac patient, an echocardiogram (especially for cats!) is encouraged prior to anesthesia.
